Compact with quality

This is a great little camera. While bigger than a typical point and shoot it is small enough that it gets carried along (with the 20mm lens). The image quality is so good that I no longer wish I'd brought an SLR along when a shot presents itself. The LCD is great relative to most compacts and refreshes very quickly with minimal delay. Capture and AF are fast and unlike an SLR you can focus anywhere in the frame, plus do fast face detection.
The live display means you can compose in black and white, see grid lines and histogram, etc. while shooting - all things that take advantage of what is possible with this type of camera. It truly is a camera you can't wait to take pictures with.
It is difficult to say if the price is justified, and at low ISO on a sunny day it isn't - over other compact cameras. When the light gets lower, or your subject is moving faster the lower noise, fast AF and f/1.7 lens all make it worthwhile. The files coming out of this camera make me smile! The lack of a viewfinder doesn't bother me, but that and no IS in the body may be deal breakers for some.
HD video is a plus, and looks amazing compared to the VGA video produced by a Canon G10...
