FAST AUTO FOCUS
The new FAST (Frequency Acceleration Sensor Technology) AF System is able to focus at an incredible speed and offers 35 separate focus points that are spread over nearly the entire sensor, which makes it possible for pin-point accurate focusing on small subjects wherever they appear in the frame. Selectable 3x3 groups within the 35-point area are especially effective when shooting active subjects.

ADVANCED CONTINUOUS AF & TRACKING
With the improved AF system, the AF Tracking function locks your subject into focus and continuously adjusts focus and brightness even if the subject disappears from view momentarily.

MOVIE+STILL COMPATIBLE LENSES (MSC)
High-precision engineering and an improved internal focusing mechanism have allowed the Olympus lenses to auto focus quickly, smoothly and silently, perfect for stills and movies.

TRUEPIC VI IMAGE PROCESSOR
This new image processing engine, designed specifically for the PEN line, features Advanced Tone Control and Real colour Technology for improved colour reproduction (especially colours such as emerald green, yellow, and gold) and colour gradation. The faster processor also allows for a shorter recovery time between shots and eliminates noise found in Live View and video.

The sensor is optimized to maximize the performance of all mZuiko digital lenses in any shooting condition. Improvements to the sensitivity and read-out speed of the existing sensor makes ISO 12,800 shooting and Full HD movie recording possible.
 
PROVEN DUST REDUCTION SYSTEM
Olympus’ Dust Reduction System assures spot-free images, even after changing lenses. Every time you turn on the camera, the patented Supersonic Wave Filter silently vibrates, flinging and collecting dust so that it doesn’t interfere with the picture imaging at any time.

IN-BODY IMAGE STABILIZATION
Say goodbye to blurry images in both still and movie modes. The E-P3’s three-mode In-body Image Stabilization system compensates for up to three shutter speed steps in the still shooting modes with any of its interchangeable lenses.

The technology behind Fine Detail Processing enhances the sense of detail and resolution, maximizing the potential of the sensor and delivering pictures that are sharper and clearer.

Low Light Performance

BUILT-IN FLASH
Illuminate low-light subjects, reduce red eye, and fill in dark areas. You are able to control the amount of light the flash emits or set the flash to auto.

AF ILLUMINATOR
The addition of this super luminosity LED beam allows the camera to focus faster in low light up to almost 10 feet.

INCREASED ISO SENSITIVITY
Stunning low light photos are a click away with an increased ISO sensitivity to 12,800.

WIRELESS FLASH COMPATBILE
Compatibility with wireless flash allows you to maximize the performance of your E-P3 in a studio setting. Use the newly introduced FL-300R or the existing FL-36R and FL-50R.

Creative Freedom

FULL 1080 HD VIDEO
Shoot up to 29 minutes of 1080i HD video and stereo sound in either AVCHD or AVI formats. A Direct HD Movie Button switches you from still to movie mode with just the press of a button.

ADVANCED IN-CAMERA ART FILTERS
Ten in-camera Art Filters (Pop Art, Soft Focus, Pale & Light colour, Light Tone, Grainy Film, Pin Hole, Diorama, Cross Process, Gentle Sepia and Dramatic Tone) are enhanced by new filter variations, art effects and bracketing. Photographers can use Art Filters in all shooting modes as well as filming HD movies.

NEW 3D SHOOTING
Add a new dimension to your photographs in any shooting situation from macro to landscape with Olympus’ 3D technology. By simply selecting the 3D Photo Mode, releasing the shutter, and slowly panning, the camera will automatically take a second image from a slightly different perspective. The 3D data is processed in-camera resulting in an .MPO file, the universal industry 3D format, for easy display on 3D televisions or laptops.
 
PROFESSIONAL AUDIO SOUND CAPTURE
Take videos that are able to capture uncompressed CD-quality 16bit/44.1kHz Linear PCM stereo recording or AC3 Dolby Digital audio.

Ease-of-Use

THREE-INCH OLED TOUCH SCREEN
This bright, 614k dot high-resolution screen features a newly-designed touch interface that gives you the ability to choose AF points, release the shutter, and navigate the camera’s menus with just the touch of your finger. With the AF (Anti-Fingerprint) coating, you don’t even need to worry about fingerprint smudges.

The icons and graphic menu have been optimized for the ultra-high definition OLED monitor to not only increase visibility, but also allow for intuitive operability. The new design uses colours that are easily distinguishable regardless of individual differences in colour perception while at the same time reduces fatigue on the human eye. The user interface has also been updated with a sleeker font design and an automatic pop-up guide in the menu screen.

SOPHISTICATED BUTTON STRUCTURE & CONTROLS
Olympus has included a dial, subdial and two new function buttons to the PEN E-P3 so photographers can adjust aperture and exposure time in an instant without switching between menu selections. Hands-on shooters will also appreciate the two customizable buttons they can assign to favorite functions.

IN-CAMERA LEVEL GAUGE
This added feature is a tremendous benefit to ensure subjects are truly level. This feature detects the camera’s pitch and roll during Live View operation so photographers can make sure subjects are where they should be in the frame.
