What does DPI mean?

Dots per inch (DPI) is unit used to describe the output quality or resolution of a printer. It describes the number of ink dots a printer is capable of producing in a linear one-inch space. Generally, the higher the dpi number, the sharper and more detailed the image can be depending on its size and image quality prior to printing.
