Jobu Design BWG-LW2 Black Widow Gimbal Lightweight MkII
The Jobu Design BWG-LW2 Black Widow Gimbal (Light Weight mk II version) is a gimbal-type tripod head that allows the entire weight of the camera and lens combination to be hung rather than balanced.
Major improvements have been made to the original BWG-LW2 that include a significant reduction in overall weight. The new version is a half-pound lighter than its predecessor. This weight loss comes with a stiffening of the chassis, resulting in a much stronger gimbal less prone to flex. Additionally, a ball-bearing pivoting system has been introduced that makes the action on this gimbal much smoother than before.
This Gimbal design allows the camera to be side-mounted rather than to be placed on top of a ball head. This is especially useful for larger telephoto lenses or spotting scopes. This way the lens can rotate around its center of gravity, dramatically improving handling and vibration dampening.
Major Improvements for this mk II Version
In addition to being lighter, more rigid, and smoother to operate, rubberized knobs are incorporated which are comfortable and easy on the hands. The body has a powder-coat finish and black anodization on the remaining aluminum components.
Arca-Type Quick Release System
The Arca-Swiss type quick release base allows it to be used with any of the many "Arca-Swiss type" plates, available from Arca-Swiss, Foba, NPC, Novoflex, etc.
Horizontal Lockout Knob
The horizontal tilt motion can be locked out for complete safety. Whether for transporting over the shoulder, or for changing cameras without removing the lens, the lockout knob will stop the head from moving.
Ergonomically Designed Knobs
Ergonomically designed thermoplastic clamping knobs. These feature a wide grip and smooth contours that are easy on the hands. The high-profile 6-lobe design allows for ease of use and strong clamping, even with gloves on.
Maintenance Free Design
Requires no maintenance. Nylon bushings will not wear out, and heavy-duty waterproof grease is used to create the silky-smooth operation.
All Weather Design
From the hard powder-coated support arm, to the stainless steel shafts, to the black anodized clamp, the finish will endure the worst a photographer can throw at it.
