The Mountain camera support is sturdy, reliable and polyvalent. With its vacuum cup, the Mountain camera support can be attached to any smooth or relatively smooth nonporous surface: glass, metal, plastic, ceramic and even varnished wood. The mounting surface can be flat or curved. You can attach it to a window, a mirror, a door, a still car, a recycling bin, a postal box or an appliance. There are too many possibilities to list them all.
Think of the Mountain camera support as a tripod head. Any sufficiently large and stable object, with a smooth or relatively smooth nonporous surface, can become a tripod. It's hard to find a tripod more stable than a still car or a building window!
The Mountain camera support is designed to support small and mid size video and photo cameras up to 7.5 lbs (3.4 kg) and is comaptible with any video or photo camera with a standard 1/4-20 threaded socket is compatible. The camera must weight less than 7.5 lbs (3.4 kg).

Component 1: Vacuum Cup
The Mountain MO5100 camera support is equipped with a Powr-Grip TL6AMB vacuum cup. The vacuum cup has a 6" (15.3 cm) diameter and its load capacity is a huge 70 pounds (31.8 kilos). The load capacity is calculated when the vacuum cup is attached to a horizontal surface. See the Powr-grip web site for detailed information on how the load capacity is calculated. The vacuum cup is attached to the articulated arm with a 1/4-20 screw knob.
The Powr-Grip TL6AMB vacuum cup provides a reliable temporary vacuum mount. Located at the base of the vacuum cup, the manual pump is used to remove the air between the vacuum cup rubber pad and the mounting surface. Make sure the mounting surface is clean and dry. A red line on the pump plunger indicates if the vacuum cup is attached securely. The red line is hidden when enough air was pumped out. While in use, check frequently if the red line appears. If the red line appears, pump the plunger until the red line is hidden again. The vacuum cup must be monitored during use. To release the vacuum cup, simply lift one of the tabs located on the edges of the vacuum cup rubber pad.
Component 2: Articulated Arm
The articulated arm is made of 1/8" lightweight aluminum professionally covered with black powder coat paint. The articulated arm is attached to the vacuum cup with a 1/4-20 screw knob. When fully extended, the length of the articulated arm is 5.5" (14 cm). The width of the articulated arm is 2" (5.1 cm).
The articulated arm is used to position the camera bracket. For example, the vacuum cup can be attached vertically to a window and, by adjusting the articulated arm, the camera bracket is positioned horizontally. The contrary is also possible. The vacuum cup can be attached horizontally on a table and, again by adjusting the articulated arm, the camera bracket is positioned vertically.
A first screw knob, located at the articulation of the arm, is used to position the forearm. Thus the angle of the forearm can easily be adjusted. Before changing the position of the forearm, we highly recommend losing up this screw knob a little (and tighten it once you are done). It is possible to the change the position by "forcing" the screw knob but it may bring premature and useless wear on the screw knob and the metal surrounding it.
A second screw knob, located on the other side of the articulation, is used to secure the position of the forearm. You can choose between five holes, located at different angles around the articulation, to firmly secure the position of the forearm. When using a heavier camera, we highly recommend the use of this second screw knob.
Component 3: Camera Bracket
The Mountain camera support is equipped with a Manfrotto 143BKT camera bracket. The camera is attached to the camera bracket using a standard 1/4-20 camera screw knob accessible through a 1.5" (3.8 cm) slot. Before tightening the knob, the camera can easily be moved 1.5" (3.8 cm) nearer or further from the articulated arm for precise positioning.
The camera bracket itself is attached to the articulated arm with a 1/4-20 camera screw. You can remove the camera bracket simply by rotating it counterclockwise.
To adapt to a wide varieties of camera models and shooting locations, there are 3 ways to attach your camera to the Mountain camera support:
1. Attach your camera to the camera bracket.
2. Attach your camera directly to the articulated arm. Simply remove the camera bracket by rotating it counterclockwise.
3. Attach your camera to a tripod head. The camera bracket comes with a 1/4" to 3/8" adapter. Remove the camera bracket by rotating it counterclockwise. Using the adapter, attach the tripod head directly to the articulated arm.
