Overview
Lens cast is a result of the CCD being exposed to light from a very sharp angle and will typically occur as a green cast in one corner of the image, stretching into a magenta cast in the opposite corner. Files in Capture One can also correct for fall off and dust spots.
To avoid lens cast, follow this procedure:
- 1. Put a calibration plate in front of the lens - as close as possible - and capture.
To ensure the correct exposure, you might have to close down a few f-stops in very light conditions or put more light directly on the plate in dark conditions or setups.
- 2. Select the thumbnail of the captured image in Capture One and then click on the lens tool.
- 3. Select the LCC menu and choose analyse (with/without dust) option.
Save the file for future use (name it something appropriate)
- 4. Now you will find your calibration file in the list of possible lens cast calibrations:
- 5. Select the image to be corrected then choose the appropriate LCC from the list to correct the image.
You can manually choose to include Color cast, Light falloff and Dust removal (if you have chosen LCC including analysis for dust)
Sliders can be used to adjust amount of fall off correction for effect.
* Note - If you tilt the camera, zoom or in any other way change the way the light will enter the lens, you need to create a new calibration file.
