Uncommon Depth is a showcase of photographic images from Canadian artist Roberta Murray. Roberta draws on her background as a fibre artist through the use of texture, form, and light, to create contemporary pictorialist images with a rich tapestry like depth. The result is images with a mystical quality as if taken at a different time or in a different world. Roberta works much the same as the Pictorialist photographers of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. The Pictorialist’s worked to manipulate the photographic image to conform to the principles of art through the use of special lenses, textured papers, combining negatives, and darkroom manipulation. Roberta uses these same techniques, although from a digital perspective, to achieve an impressionistic style to many of her images. Fine art archival quality pigment prints are available direct from the artist, or at the many gallery shows and exhibitions Roberta participates in. As well exclusive one of kind concept pieces can be commissioned. Commercial installations on a wide variety of mediums (glass, backlit displays, banners, textiles, and more) is available.
