Overview

Recommended flash for the EOS-1Ds Mark II.  Now Canon's most powerful flash unit, the Speedlite 580EX has a guide number of 58 (m/ISO 100 at 105mm) and an adjustable angle of coverage suitable for wide lenses to 14mm. Canon has reduced the full-power recycling time by about 25 percent than its predecessor, the Speedlite 550EX. These improvements are possible because of flash head optimization, circuit resistance reductions and changes in circuit design. A new control dial, SET button and a high-speed sync / shutter curtain synchronization button put all major functions at your fingertips.
